what’s on our minds?
The election. Obviously. I’m not going to tell you anything you aren’t already aware of here - NV results expected midday, there are still outstanding votes in AZ and GA, and PA results are steadily coming in. NC and AK aren’t called yet either, but neither of those states should prove determinative. Locally, Christina Henderson won an at-large seat on the D.C. City Council. Henderson, currently a legislative assistant for Senator Schumer, describes herself as a “pragmatic progressive” and will join Robert White, an incumbent who was the top vote-getter last night. D.C. voters also approved a ballot measure to decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms

When the Virus Came for the American Dream per The New York Times, “Buford Highway, in suburban Atlanta, has long been a place where immigrant entrepreneurs could build businesses and get ahead. Not this year.”
Dr. Opioid - per Huffington Post, “William O’Brien was a well-heeled doctor with a thriving Philadelphia medical practice. He was also at the center of a massive painkiller supply chain run by an outlaw biker gang.”
