A survey of D.C. teachers, conducted by the Washington Teachers’ Union, found 80% of D.C. teachers are unhappy in their jobs and nearly half plan to leave in the next few years. D.C.’s retention is generally lower than the national average and respondents noted the turnover and ensuing increased workload as serious issues in the system.
