• Friday: Hill-O-Ween brings a kid-centric block party to Eastern Market (5-8 pm) | Watch Hocus Pocus on Audi Field (7 pm) | Reneé Rapp sings at The Anthem (7:30 pm) while pop singer Slayyyter performs at 9:30 Club (8 pm)

• Saturday: The Udvar-Hazy Center presents Air and Scare (10 am - 3 pm) while the Smithsonian American Art Museum hosts a Día de los Muertos Family Day (11:30 am - 3 pm) | The Silver Spring Zombie Walk creeps its way to a showing of Night of the Living Dead - costumes encourage (7 pm, movie at 11:15) | Quincy Hall in Ballston presents Halloween (Taylor’s Version) with a lookalike contest and karaoke (9 pm) | The Shreking Ball add a Shrek twist to Halloween at Union Stage (10:30 pm)

• Sunday: Paint pumpkins and drink cider at Shaw’s Calico (1-9 pm) | Del Ray’s annual Halloween Parade returns (2 pm) | Kesha performs at The Anthem (8 pm)

• all weekend: Boo at the Zoo returns to the National Zoo with trick-or-treat throughout the park each night | Tee off into Nationals Park with a nine hole course set up around the stadium

let’s talk food and drinks

• my weekly best bite: harissa (not pizza) at Yellow

• Medina, a cocktail bar decorated with a Bedouin tent, opens today next to sibling restaurant Maydan.

• A bakery in downtown DC, Nino’s, is only open Thursdays-Saturdays, but is selling out of its croissants every day.

• Eater determined D.C.’s top Thai restaurants (my favorite cuisine). Highlights include Thai Chef Street Food, BKK Cookshop, and Baan Siam.

what’s on our minds?

• The pandas, officially leaving on November 15, will journey on the FedEx Giant Panda Express for a 19-hour journey with 80 points of bamboo per bear.

• It likely won’t feel much like fall this weekend with forecasts in the 80s.
