Saturday: Cleveland Park’s library hosts a used book sale (10 am - 2 pm) | Theatre Week kicks off with a festival at Arena Stage and a concert at The Wharf (11 am - 6 pm) |Union Market’s Hi-Lawn hosts Lawntoberfest (12 pm - midnight)
Sunday: Glen Echo Park presents Echo Arts Festival with live music and art across the park - as well as the last chance this year to ride the carousel (12-5 pm) | Lil Nas X performs at The Anthem (8 pm)
All weekend: DC Art All Night returns, with art activations across the city Friday and Saturday nights. The event started in Shaw in 2011 and has grown to cover 22 neighborhoods (7 pm - 3 am) | FiestaDC returns for its 50th anniversary, with a parade and entertainment celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month on Pennsylvania Avenue (11 am - 7 pm on Sat. and Sun.)

600 families in D.C. that are transitioning out of homelessness will receive up to $10k in cash to support their transition, especially as they may hit a benefits cliff regarding other financial supports. The D.C. government is piloting the program with funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, the major COVID stimulus bill passed in March 2021.
