let’s talk food and drinks
my weekly best bite: Salmon kabob at Moby Dick in Georgetown.
A bunch of new spots have opened in the past few months, many of which made D.C. Eater’s latest list of hot restaurants. New spots include Mt. Pleasant’s breakfast taco spot, La Tejana, and an upscale Peruvian restaurant, Causa, in Shaw’s Blagden Alley.
Want to spend a day at a scenic winery but not sure what’s nearby? Here’s 12 locations within an hour and half of D.C.
what’s on our minds?
Mayor Bowser declared a public emergency on Thursday in response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to bus migrants to D.C. - since April, about 11,000 people have reached D.C. this way. As the individuals arrive in D.C., any support available has thus far been primarily offered by volunteers and mutual aid organizations. By declaring an emergency, Bowser unlocks funding and assistance to support the individuals. She’s also standing up an Office of Migrant Services to provide services related to basic needs.
