06.10 - born this way

let’s talk food and drinks
my weekly best bite: Buttermilk biscuits at Yardbird
Another Tatte is open, this time in City Center. The Boston bakery, first opening in D.C. in August 2020, shows no sign of slowing expansion. Two other locations added coming soon signage - one at 14th and W NW and another in Foggy Bottom (near the Whole Foods) - making for eight Tatte’s in the D.C. area.
The well-known Shaw bar Takoda opened a roof bar Navy Yard outpost yesterday with room for 200+.
looking ahead: Renowned and prolific chef Peter Chang will open his first restaurant in D.C. this fall (his other spots are all in suburban VA/MD). Chang Chang, heading to Dupont, will split the space between dine-in and carryout.
what’s on our minds?
The Halsey concert at Merriweather on Wednesday turned disastrous, with heavy rain and storms flooding the venue and ensnaring fans. For patrons, the treacherous conditions were waited out for about 2.5 hours before Halsey ultimately canceled. For her part, Halsey took to Twitter to announce that her rescheduled date will be at a different venue.
Early in-person voting for the DC elections begins today and continues through June 19. Here’s a list of early vote centers - D.C. voters can go to any location. Election day is June 21.
