let’s talk food and drinks
my weekly best bite: tofu soup at Lighthouse Tofu in Annandale (well worth the drive from DC!)
Oyster Oyster chef Rob Rubba won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Chef, a prestigious national award for the hospitality industry, marking the first win for a DC chef since José Andrés’ win in 2011. Oyster Oyster - the vegetable-centric spot in Shaw was already a tough reservation - the next availability is now in late August.
what’s on our minds?
While the air quality is easing in DC into the weekend, this likely won’t be the last time smoke overwhelms the eastern U.S. from Canadian wildfires. With climate change, wildfires are worsening around the world and Canada is likely to see one of its worst wildfire seasons ever due to low snowfall and a dry spring.
Quick links to other weekly #goodreads:
The Binge Purge - per Vulture, “TV’s streaming model is broken. It’s also not going away. For Hollywood, figuring that out will be a horror show.”
Tim Robinson and the Golden Age of Cringe Comedy - per NY Times, “His sketch show, ‘I Think You Should Leave,’ zeroes in on the panic-inducing feelings of living in a society where we can’t agree on the rules.”
